Lifetime Fitness

PS1 PHYSICAL FITNESS
The learner will be able to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.
  
SD.HS.1.1 Flexibility
The learner will be able to know and demonstrate safe techniques during flexibility exercises to increase range of motion.
  
SD.HS.1.2 Active Engagement
The learner will be able to demonstrate active engagement during aerobic and strength training activities.
  
SD.HS.1.3 Target Heart Rate
The learner will be able to calculate and not exceed their target heart rate during training sessions.
  
SD.HS.1.4 Principles of Conditioning
The learner will be able to apply the principles of conditioning to skill development activities (i.e. specificity, overload, and progression).

PS2 MOVEMENT COMPETENCY
The learner will be able to demonstrate competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
  
PS3 MOVEMENT CONCEPTS AND PRINCIPLES
The learner will be able to understand movement concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics as they apply to the learning and performance of physical activities.
  
SD.HS.3.1 Threats to Personal Safety
The learner will be able to identify threats to personal safety and how to avoid them.
  
SD.HS.3.2 Martial Arts Forms
The learner will be able to demonstrate competency in a variety of martial arts forms (i.e. judo, karate, kick-boxing, wrestling).
  
SD.HS.3.3 Rules
The learner will be able to know and apply rules associated with the various forms of self defense.
  
SD.HS.3.4 Anatomy
The learner will be able to identify vulnerable areas of the human body used in defensive techniques.
  
SD.HS.3.5 Skills
The learner will be able to demonstrate correct form in basic skills used in self defense such as stance, punches, throws, kicks, and blocks.
  
SD.HS.3.6 Falls
The learner will be able to demonstrate the ability to safely fall to the ground from a standing position.
  
SD.HS.3.7 Strategies
The learner will be able to identify strengths and weaknesses when confronted by an aggressor.
  
SD.HS.3.8 Defense
The learner will be able to demonstrate the use of hands, elbows, head, knees, or feet in defending an attack.
  
SD.HS.3.9 Escapes
The learner will be able to demonstrate escapes from holds from various positions.

The learner will be able to exhibit personal and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity settings.
  
SD.HS.4.1 No Harm
The learner will be able to conduct themselves in a manner that presents no intentional harm to themselves or others during all activity settings.
  
SD.HS.4.2 Leadership
The learner will be able to demonstrate cooperation, leadership, and positive peer interaction while becoming proficient in the use of self defense techniques and styles.
